Security Sector Reform
Structured to meet the security challenges of the 2l century, with the help of international partners, the security sector in Liberia has undergone a complete overhaul of its training and mandates. Additionally, all members recruited into the restructured Liberian National Police (LNP) and the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) undergo a complete background check to ensure that they have not been involved in any human rights violations. Furthermore, there is also the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL), whose directive is to ensure political stability in the country. Working alongside the LNP and the AFL, crime rates have dropped significantly since the implementation of the newly-trained Liberian security forces.

Liberia now has a highly skilled and well-equipped police force that will help to ensure law, order
and security throughout the nation.

The newly formed Liberian military has been restructured to maintain the protection of human rights and maintain the rule of law.
